As National School Bus Safety Week comes to an end, we're sharing a few important reminders for drivers, students, and families.
From knowing when to stop for a school bus to practicing safe habits at the bus stop, we all have a part to play in keeping our students safe.

It's Digital Citizenship Week! 💻
Being a good digital citizen isn't complicated. A little common sense and kindness can go a long way online.
We're sharing a few reminders to help our students (and the rest of us!) make better choices when using technology.

Today is Georgia School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, and it's also the start of National School Bus Safety Week!
A big thank you to our Murray County Schools bus drivers for the care they show our students and for getting them safely to and from school each day.
And to everyone sharing the road with our buses, please slow down, stay alert, and help us keep our students safe!

Book Vending Machines are making their way into Murray County Schools! 📚
Chatsworth Elementary, Coker Elementary, Bagley Middle, and Gladden Middle are among the first schools to receive their new Book Vending Machines!
These machines give students a fun way to get books of their own while encouraging a love of reading.
A special thank you to Instructional Technology Director Adriane Ellis and Federal Programs Director Donna Eskut for helping bring this longtime goal to life!
We also appreciate Chris Crow and Jamie Dunn from our Maintenance Department for making sure the machines were delivered and safely installed at each school.
And we're not finished yet! More Book Vending Machines are on the way!

Murray County Schools is partnering with Edia Learning to make it easier for families and schools to communicate about student attendance.
If your child is absent, you may receive a text message from our new AI Attendance Assistant. Families can reply directly to the message, send documentation such as doctor’s notes, and communicate in the language they’re most comfortable using.
As with any new tool, there may be a few adjustments along the way. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the rollout and make sure the system is working as smoothly as possible for our families.

Today, we’re celebrating the custodians who do so much behind the scenes to take care of our schools.
A lot of their work happens before students arrive, after they leave, and all throughout the day. We’re thankful for everything they do to keep our schools clean, safe, and welcoming.
Happy National School Custodian Appreciation Day to our amazing custodial teams across Murray County Schools!

We’re kicking off National Principals Month by recognizing Jennifer Jones, principal of Gladden Middle School!
Mrs. Jones is in her 28th year in education and her third year as principal of GMS. She started out teaching special education at both the middle school and Pre-K levels and later spent 13 years as an assistant principal.
She says the best part of being a principal is helping others and watching students and teachers grow. What makes Gladden special to her is the staff and the way they push students to succeed while still keeping the “GLAD in GLADDEN!”
When she’s not at school, you might find Mrs. Jones reading a mystery novel, working on a craft project, watching an old favorite like The Andy Griffith Show, or cheering on the Dawgs.
Her message to students: “The biggest battle you will fight is the one between your own ears.” She hopes students stay focused on their goals, keep learning, and keep pressing forward.
Thank you, Mrs. Jones, for all you do for Gladden Middle School!
